The rooms themselves were quite nice, apart from a few issues like webs and paint. The real issue was the service, or lack of. We had a 15 day stay, so 14 nights, and we had our room serviced twice. According to their in house book, they only service the rooms every 4 days if you stay longer than 5 days. I don't deem this appropriate if they are a 5 star resort.
Apart from the beds, the floors and surfaces become extremely dirty, even when the rooms were cleaned, they were not cleaned properly. The kitchen & floors were cleaned quite well. Not to my standard, but pretty good. The bathroom basins were cleaned, but the bathtub was not touched, even though it had been used and was dirty. The glass and mirrors in the bathroom was also not done. Also, no dusting as part of their housekeeping.
The most disgusting thing was that the full length glass doors that were not cleaned. This glass door was dirty from one end to the other, and never cleaned. The outdoor area which included a plunge pool, undercover outdoor bed, sun beds, tables and BBQ area were not part of their cleaning schedule. So we had to clean everything ourselves over the 2 weeks, so we can keep using them. We also had to call them to pick up our rubbish when it got too full as they would only pick it up on housekeeping days.
The plunge pool was never cleaned, and the water was never checked. Given that there were a few heavy rainfalls, I would have thought that it would have been checked. We had to call up to get more towels and toilet paper, as weekly top ups were not enough. We also had to move the wet towels from the bathrooms to the outdoor area, as they began to smell.
The restaurant was closed for the full period we were there.
We had continental breakfast included in our package. This was dropped off to us the day before. It included muesli, small UHT milks, raw eggs and raw bacon, small cold croissants and small cold muffins, cold baguette, relish and small glass bottles of OJ. We had to cook it ourselves. There were no options. I do not have gluten or dairy, and the kids do not eat muesli. Non of us have relish.
They had a bar near the pool that was opened from 11:30 till 5. This had basic wine, bears, spirits and cocktails. NO SNACKS. Nothing. They could not even supply us with nuts or chips. Nothing. When we did question the staff, all they said was “no, no food. nothing”. They also had coffee in the bar, but only between these hours. They did have a coffee pod machine in the villa, but that was it.
The actual communal pool was tiled and heated, but there were several tiles missing so you had to be extremely careful not to cut your feet on the bottom. Lucky we have children that are good swimmers, so they do not have to touch the bottom of the pool.
The reception area was open from 8am till 6pm, and that is it. You could not contact anyone after these hours if you needed, apart from security. But there were no staff on the premisses out of these time.
We had to do make our own beds, and stay on the same sheets for 7 days. We had to cook our own breakfast, clean all the dishes. We had to load and unload the dishwasher several times over the fortnight. We had to clean the kitchen and table, otherwise we would ave to cook and eat on dirty surfaces. The couches got dirty with crumbs, so we had to dust them onto the floors, and they stayed their for a week.
They supplied us with amenities, but if you need top up in-between housekeeping, according to their book, you need pay for them. 2 ear buds, mini moisturiser and body wash is not enough for 1 week. Can I tell you.
If you have young children, this resort is not for you. All the bedrooms are individual and connect to the outdoor pathway. Non are indoors, and the locks do not work form the outside. So the kids would have to remember to lock their bedrooms before falling asleep.
I would not recommend this resort, and I will surely never be back. I just hope no one else has such a disappointing experience as we did.
